Australian Red Cross CEO to step down

The Board of Australian Red Cross today announced that CEO Judy Slatyer will step down from her role and depart the organisation.

Ms Slatyer will complete nearly five years as CEO on 18 September, with current Board director Kym Pfitzner to serve as Interim CEO.

Red Cross President Mr Ross Pinney said: “Judy is much admired and much loved among our organisation’s network here and abroad, and appreciated by the many people she has encountered in her role over recent years. She has led the strategic renewal of Red Cross which is now well placed for the future. Importantly she has successfully stewarded Australian Red Cross through the external challenges of 2020.

“We would like to acknowledge Judy’s service and leadership and we congratulate her for her achievements. We also look forward to following her career into the future, having heard some of her plans. We will continue to welcome her as part of the Red Cross family and we wish her all the very best.”

Ms Slatyer said: “I am so grateful for having had the opportunity to lead Red Cross and am proud of the impact we have made as a team. Our peoples’ efforts have been outstanding, and the impact of their work has been inspiring. I believe in the strategy that has been committed to and will always be a friend and supporter of this extraordinary organisation.”

The Red Cross Board has initiated a global search for a replacement CEO, a process likely to take several months.
