Author Talk with Fiona McArthur

Darwin City Council

Join us at the Darwin City Library 5:30pm Tuesday 26 September to listen to Fiona McArthur talk about her latest book As the River Rises.

From the bestselling author of The Opal Miner’s Daughter comes this suspenseful tale of love, redemption and finding your path when you feel surrounded. Fiona Mc Arthur’s latest book As the River Rises explores themes of emotional abuse, the rural doctor shortage and hope in the face of natural disasters, but in true McArthur form – there’ll always be sunshine at the end of the storm.

About the author:

Drawing from her earlier life as a rural midwife, Fiona McArthur shares her love of working with women, families, and health professionals in her books. In her compassionate, pacey fiction, her love of the Australian landscape meshes beautifully with warm, funny, multigenerational characters as she highlights challenges for rural and remote families, and the strength shared between women. Fiona is the author of the non-fiction book Aussie Midwives, and lives on a farm with her husband in northern New South Wales. She was awarded the NSW Excellence in Midwifery Award in 2015 and the Australian Ruby Award for Contemporary Romantic Fiction in 2020. She is currently shortlisted for the Australian Ruby Award for 2023. Winners will be announced in August at the Sydney Wentworth Hotel.
