Awards recognise pivotal care for patients

Mr Josh Lee from Mountview Pharmacy in Armidale NSW has been announced as the Australian Patients Association’s Most Outstanding Community Pharmacist of the Year.

The Patients Association awards, sponsored by the Pharmacy Guild of Australia, recognise the pivotal role community pharmacists play in the delivery of primary care to Australians.

National President of the Guild Trent Twomey congratulated Josh Lee on being named Most Outstanding Community Pharmacist of the Year.

“Josh Lee reflects the standards of excellence which are so characteristic of the community pharmacy sector today,” Mr Twomey said.

“To be chosen as Most Outstanding Community Pharmacist of the Year by patients is deeply significant. It highlights the commitment and dedication to patient welfare that is the very foundation of community pharmacy.

“This year has been especially challenging and the pandemic has only raised demand for valued, trusted community pharmacist services. The fact this award is chosen by the Patients Association is testament to the recognition of and appreciation for services of community pharmacists,” Mr Twomey said.

“As was made clear at the awards ceremony, Josh’s youth in a small mining town established the importance of community in him. It’s a universally shared value – the importance of community is paramount to Australia’s 5,900 community pharmacists.”
