Perth Zoo is the place to be these school holidays with a range of activities on offer to celebrate a major milestone for an endangered Goodfellow’s Tree Kangaroo joey.
The joey, born in October, has begun regularly poking her head out of her mum’s pouch, with the Zoo hosting free Keeper Talks in the Tree Kangaroo habitat and, following a public naming competition, naming the joey ‘Muku’.
The joey’s arrival comes at the same time as the Zoo welcomes the birth of two Bolivian Squirrel Monkeys.
Families can spot them holding onto their mums’ back in the Zoo’s Amazonia habitat.
Perth Zoo will be open every day throughout school holidays and will host a range of activities, including zookeeper talks, guided tours, and animal encounters.
The Zoo, which celebrated its 125th birthday last year, reached a monthly visitation record in October, with 103,000 visitors coming through the gates to enjoy the Zoo’s new caf precinct, playground, and function centre.
Those amenities are underpinned by a $51 million investment from the Cook Government.
