Balga Fatal Crash Charges

Major Crash Investigation Unit officers have charged a man in relation to a fatal crash in Balga yesterday, Wednesday 12 April 2023.
About 11:30am, a grey BMW sedan was being driven east on Beach Road. It will be alleged the BMW was driven above the speed limit and through a red traffic light at the intersection of Mirrabooka Avenue. The BMW was subsequently involved in a crash at the intersection with a Mitsubishi Magna which was being driven south on Mirrabooka Avenue.
It will be further alleged the driver of the BMW fled the scene, and was later arrested in Mirrabooka. He was taken to hospital for treatment of injuries he received in the crash.
A 31-year-old female passenger in the BMW sedan received critical injuries and was conveyed to Royal Perth Hospital where she later died. Two other passengers were also injured in the crash.
A 27-year-old man from Mirrabooka has been charged with:
– Manslaughter
– Driver failed to stop and ensure assistance received after incident occasioning death
– Driver fail to report an incident occasioning death or grievous bodily harm
He was refused bail and is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court today, Thursday 13 April 2023.
