Balranald Hall now three times bigger and better

The Balranald community in the Riverina now has an upgraded hall that is more than triple its previous size, accessible to seniors and the disabled and airconditioned so it is useable throughout the year.

Crown Lands has invested more than $87,400 to enlarge and modernise Homebush Recreation Community Hall, creating jobs for local tradespeople when the Riverina was feeling the impact of the last drought and the downturn caused by COVID.

The extension more than tripled the floor space of the hall from 108 square metres to 324 square metres. The NSW Government investment also upgraded the lighting and electricals and delivered shutters for the windows.

The hall can now host much larger social events, meetings, training days and community gatherings in comfort and style, keeping everyone cool in summer and warm in winter.

It has already hosted events including the Homebush Rodeo, a mini expo for Elders, and a Local Land Services information day with other users to include the Homebush Recreation Committee, Balranald Field and Game Club, businesses, and Rural Fire Service as well as residents.

The hall, on Ivanhoe Road and Balranald Road, is part of Homebush Recreation Reserve, a Crown reserve. Upgrade funding came from the Crown Reserves Improvement Fund, which enhances community facilities and recreational spaces across the state.

Crown reserves play a critical role in protecting the environment and supporting communities with everything from community halls and Scouts and Girl Guides halls to parks, ovals and green open space.

Cryon, population 46, relies on it's hall to support local community events
