Bands To Battle At BendiGLOW Youth Fest 9 September

YO Events are again proud to present BendiGLOW Youth Fest – a neon, glowing, music, art and skate celebration of young people, by young people in Greater Bendigo at Bendigo Exhibition Centre from 3pm – 9pm Saturday September 21, 2024.

This year BendiGLOW Youth Fest will feature a Battle of the Bands, free learn-to-skate workshops by Gnarly Neighbours each hour from 3.30 to 7.30pm, art workshops, laser tag, UV facepainting, market stalls and food trucks.

Battle of the Bands finalists Funkle, Pariah Kid, Psychosybin, The Chans, Standing Room, Lost in the Past and The Unknown will compete to win awesome prizes. First prize is a home studio recording pack from Bendigo Records and a paid gig at a music festival. Second Prize is a $100 gift voucher from Muso’s Stuff and a paid gig, and third prize is a three-hour studio rehearsal session at YeeHaa Studios.

Judges for the Battle of the Bands are Sam Edmonds from Bendigo Vinyl/Bendigo Records, Steph Bitter, local singer songwriter and presenter on Live Music Bendigo, and Jahmiele Hicks from the BackBeat Podcast.

Live Music Bendigo from Phoenix FM will broadcast the Battle of the Bands sets live from BendiGLOW.

Winners will be announced at the end of the event after sets from Select All and Junkyard Wizards. Additional sets from local DJs and young performers will happen throughout the event.

BendiGLOW will be bathed in UV light, and festival goers are asked to dress their neon best and get ready to glow with giveaways and prizes for the best GLOW-fit donated by local businesses. Simply post online using #BendiGLOW to enter.

YO Events Team Member and BendiGLOW Lead Producer Zak Rivas said BendiGLOW is going to be an awesome event to celebrate young people and upcoming musicians in Bendigo’s sprouting local scene.

“The Battle of the Bands is a good opportunity for musicians to demonstrate their true passions and win great prizes as a reward,” Zak said.

BendiGLOW is supported by FReeZA and Victorian Youth Fest, which are Victorian Government initiatives that support young people to get involved in their community by planning and running drug, smoke, vape and alcohol-free music and cultural events for other young people. BendiGLOW Youth Fest will be safe and secure with no pass outs.

BendiGLOW Youth Fest will take place on Saturday September 21 from 3pm to 9pm. Entry is free but donations are welcome to support YO Events Programs.
