Barmera man seven times over limit caught by police, South Australia

A man has been caught by police in Barmera with a very high drink-driving test result.

Police will allege that about 5.25pm on Thursday 29 August, a patrol stopped a Toyota station wagon on Sturt Street and the male driver underwent a breath test.

He returned a positive reading of 0.352, more than seven times over the legal limit.

The 21-year-old Barmera man was reported for exceeding the prescribed concentration of alcohol, and was issued a 12-month immediate loss of licence notice.

His car was impounded for 28 days, and he will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

This driver’s result is one of the highest in recent memory, and is further reason why police are currently running Operation High Impact F5, targeting all of the Fatal 5 offences of drink and drug driving, speeding, distraction, seatbelts and dangerous road users.
