Bayside Council is set to join the Welcoming Cities Network following a resolution at the Council Meeting on 23 September 2026.
Joining the network will complement and strengthen Council’s ongoing commitment and leadership in supporting Bayside’s diverse and multicultural community.
As a member of the Welcoming Cities Network, Bayside Council will join neighbouring councils in sharing knowledge, resources and initiatives that promote diversity, inclusion and social cohesion.
Council will also explore the development of regular ‘Welcome Neighbour’ sessions providing opportunities for new residents to connect with their local community and get to know their neighbours.
These sessions, which may be introduced in suburbs with a high number of new residents, would build on the success of Council’s weekly outreach program in Wolli Creek. The program gives newly arrived migrants and young families the opportunity to develop social connections, access valuable health and wellbeing support services, and become more involved in community life.
