Bayside’s Diwali Festival Returns

Bayside Council’s popular Diwali Festival returns to King Street Mall, Rockdale, for a vibrant night celebration featuring dazzling light displays, authentic cuisine and cultural performances showcasing the richness of Indian culture on Friday 6 November 2026.

The festival will feature Bollywood dancing, traditional cultural performances, henna art, craft workshops, rangoli displays, authentic Indian cuisine and sweet treats, Diwali-themed children’s activities, as well as Dhol drummers and roaming entertainers.

The event celebrates Bayside’s rich cultural diversity, with residents and visitors encouraged to dress in their brightest colours and immerse themselves in an authentic Diwali experience. Attendees can look forward to an unforgettable evening of food, music and community celebration.

Stallholders interested in participating in the festival are invited to submit an Expression of Interest by Friday 14 September 2026.

To accommodate the festivities, Market Street, King Street and King Lane in Rockdale will be closed to traffic during the event.

Rockdale Train Station and nearby bus stops are just a short walk from the festival site, and attendees are encouraged to use public transport where possible.

Bayside Mayor Edward McDougall said:

“Bayside’s Diwali Festival is a wonderful occasion for family and friends to come together for a memorable night that will light up Rockdale’s town centre.”

“It is also part of Council’s ongoing plan to reinvigorate our town centres and create more opportunities for late-night trading, entertainment and community engagement,” Mayor Edward McDougall said.
