Become environmental warrior for Baw Baw Shire today

Are you passionate about protecting and enhancing your local environment? Do you want to ensure a sustainable future for all?

If you answered yes to either of these questions, then Baw Baw Shire wants to hear from you.

Expressions of Interest will are now open for Council’s Environmental Voice Advisory Committee (EVAC) with two vacant positions available.

Mayor of Baw Baw Shire Cr Annemarie McCabe encouraged residents to apply for a position on the committee and said it was a great chance to inform Council decision making and have a positive impact on the local environment.

“This committee is part of Council’s commitment to understanding community issues and concerns and ensure our decision making is reflective of what our residents want,” said the Mayor.

“The EVAC provides advice and recommendations to Council for consideration in the areas of environmental policy, strategy and planning, while also focussing on new and emerging issues where Council has a chance to play a key role.”

“The current committee assisted in the development of the Environmental Sustainability Strategy 2022-2030, demonstrating what a wonderful opportunity being part of this committee is.”

Expressions of Interest will open on Friday 17 November and close on Friday 15 December and appointments will be made on 15 January 2023.

Committee meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday in February, May, August and November from 6.00 pm – 8.00 pm at the Drouin Civic Centre.

“I encourage anyone in our community who wishes to have their say and make an impact on the local environment to come forward and submit an expressions of interest,” said the Mayor.
