Bendigo features in national online music festival

A selection of central Victorian musicians will perform live via Instagram this weekend as part of the award-winning online music festival, Isol-Aid.

Every weekend since March, Australian and international musicians have been invited to play 20-minute performances from their Instagram accounts, with each artist tagging the next artist to play, encouraging fans to discover new music.

The Bendigo segment of the festival runs for two hours, commencing at 3pm on Sunday August 16.

Participating local artists include Four Lions duo Shann Lions and Keith MacQueen, singer songwriter Mariah McCarthy and a special performance from Archer, a troubadour recently signed to acclaimed Darwin-based record label, Skinnyfish Music. The full artist line-up will be announced by Isol-Aid this Friday.

“Cancelled tours and closed venues across Australia mean artists, programmers, record labels and audiences are missing out”, said Isol-Aid Festival Director Emily Ulman.

“We have fostered a sense of togetherness and community for musicians and audiences and we are so pleased to see musicians from Bendigo and central Victoria come onboard.”

Isol-Aid’s Bendigo showcase is supported by The City of Greater Bendigo’s Tourism and Major Events and Bendigo Venues & Events units.

Bendigo Venues & Events Manager David Lloyd said with venues closed during COVID-19, BV&E had produced and presented online content to support local performers and the community.

“Isol-Aid is a great opportunity to further support musicians and audiences and present some of the wonderful contemporary music talent we have here in Bendigo, to a global audience.”

The festival is a free event and the livestream can be viewed at www.isolaidfestival.com
