Bendigo tourism conference kicks off at Capital

The City of Greater Bendigo’s highly successful one-day tourism conference, Bendigo NEXT, returns to The Capital on Monday with a focus on gastronomy, winter tourism, agriculture and sustainability and social media.

The City’s Tourism and Major Events Manager Terry Karamaloudis said the event featured lots of exciting speakers.

Visit Victoria Head of Regional Tourism and Strategy Paul Matthews and Melbourne International Arts Festival Patrizia Fimiani will be among the keynote speakers.

Other guest speakers at the conference include farmer, food advocate and tourism development specialist Jade Miles, Big 4 Holiday Parks Board Director and social media strategist Sophie Bone, Manager Katrina Reynolds from award-winning Yarra Valley Estate and Edible Forest, CEO of Global Ballooning Australia and creator of tourism training business the Institute of Excellence Despina Karatzias and founder of the Lost Trades Fair Lisa Rundell.

“Bendigo NEXT is a fantastic opportunity for our tourism industry operators to hear about future trends, learn from some of Victoria’s best visitor experiences and understand emerging markets in the tourism industry,” Mr Karamaloudis said.

“With our region’s recent designation as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy we have invited experts in local food networks to take part in the conference, to demonstrate ways businesses can get involved and benefit from being part of this exciting opportunity for our region.

“The City is proud to be able to offer this event to local and regional tourism operators to ensure we remain at the forefront of our industry. We’re looking forward to another inspiring and productive day.”
