Communities came together over the weekend to remember the events of the Black Summer bushfires as a commemorative documentary visits towns throughout the Kempsey Shire.
Kempsey Shire Council is bringing the Black Summer and Beyond documentary to the community with Bellbrook and Dondingalong screenings taking place on Friday and Saturday.
The inspiring one-hour documentary, narrated by Australian actor Jack Thompson, features raw first-hand accounts from 12 local residents telling their experiences of the 2019 bushfires, delivering a powerful and raw account of how truly devastating this time was, and still is, for them and the community. The accounts include locals Erica Macauley, Dick Fisher and Aunty Ruth.
Next up, the documentary will be coming to Gladstone on Friday 25 and to Crescent Head on Saturday 26 February.
