Bland Shire Council has appointed Mr Grant Baker as their new General Manager who will take up the position on the 1st August 2022.

Eight applications were received for the position and came from NSW and interstate. The councillors were extremely impressed with the high standard of applicants and unanimously decided that Mr Baker would be most suited to the position and work well with councillors, staff and community.

Mr Baker has a sound local government background and has formerly been appointed as Director Infrastructure Services at Blayney Shire Council. He brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and skills and he is looking forward to sharing these attributes with council and the wider community.

The incoming general manager has completed the Company Directors Course and holds degrees in Engineering (Civil) and Surveying with 20 years local government experience. Grant has been an active community member in his previous locations and will be moving to West Wyalong with his wife and two children.

“Councillors had a difficult decision as candidates were of a very high standard” Mayor Brian Monaghan said.

“We look forward to a fruitful relationship with Grant after he commences his duties in early August.”

Grant and family are looking forward to joining the Bland Shire community and are excited about making West Wyalong their home.
