An investigation is underway after a person has died following a house fire in the state’s Illawarra region yesterday.
Just after 9.30pm yesterday (Saturday 25 July 2026), emergency services were called to a home on Manning Street, near Bonaira Street, Kiama, following reports of a house fire.
Officers attached to Lake Illawarra Police District arrived and located a house well alight.
Fire and Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the blaze before they located a body of a person inside the home.
The body is yet to be formally identified.
A crime scene has been established, and police commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire and the person’s death.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
