Body located – Figure Eight Pools, NSW

A body, believed to be that of a man swept off rocks in the Royal National Park over a month ago, has been recovered.

About 2.40pm on Monday (1 April 2019), a bushwalker located a body on rocks about 800m south of the ‘Figure Eight Pools’.

A retrieval operation commenced, involving officers from Wollongong Police District, Police Rescue and the Airwing.

Around midday yesterday (Tuesday 2 April 2019), the body was retrieved.

While the body is yet to be formally identified, it’s believed to be that of a 22-year-old man who was swept off rocks at the Figure Eight Pools on Monday 25 February 2019.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
