Boosting School Facilities For Ringwood Senior Students

  • Minister for Education

Students in Ringwood are a step closer to having the state-of-the-art senior secondary facilities they deserve, thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

Acting Premier Minister for Education James Merlino today visited Ringwood Secondary College to inspect the construction of its new $5.5 million two-storey senior learning centre.

These works are part of the second stage of the school’s redevelopment and will feature classrooms, a collaborative central space and break out areas and a VCE centre.

The first floor will also connect to the upper level of the existing workshop and trades building, making the school’s facilities more interconnected. The second stage is expected to be completed later this year.

The first stage of Ringwood Secondary College’s redevelopment has already been completed, and included constructing a new junior school building, replacing 11 relocatables with permanent classrooms, refurbishing the library and reconfiguring the car park.

The Labor Government is investing $5.5 million for the new senior learning centre, building on the $7.85 million for its completed first stage.

The Labor Government is building the Education State so that every student can access a great local school and education.

It has invested $6.1 billion to deliver more than 1,400 school upgrades, supporting more than 7,500 construction jobs, and committed to opening 100 new schools by 2026 to ensure all families have access to a great local school.

As noted by Acting Premier and Minister for Education James Merlino

“Ringwood Secondary College students and teachers are already learning and teaching in fantastic new school facilities and it’s exciting to see work underway for the second stage of the redevelopment.”

As noted by Member for Ringwood Dustin Halse

“Once complete, this additional new building will be a great boost for Ringwood Secondary College students in their final years of high school.”
