Boy charged over aggravated break-in at Bourke

A boy will face court today charged following an investigation into an aggravated break-in in the state’s far west.

About 12.05am on Sunday (14 January 2024), five people forced entry into a home on Wortumertie Street, Bourke.

Police were told the group stole a mobile phone and jewellery before fleeing the location on foot.

Officers attached to Central North Police District commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following inquiries, about 8am today (Tuesday 16 January 2024), police attended a home in Bourke and arrested a 12-year-old boy.

He was taken to Bourke Police Station and charged with aggravated break and enter dwelling in company steal and breach of bail.

The boy was refused bail to appear at a children’s court today (Tuesday 16 January 2024).
