A boy has been charged over an alleged break, enter and steal in the state’s western region.
About 2.45pm yesterday (Saturday 4 July 2026), police were called to a unit on Andrew Street, Inverell, following reports of a break, enter and stealing.
Officers attached to New England Police District attended and were told a vehicle and some cash had been allegedly stolen from the property.
Police commenced enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Following enquiries, about 4.50pm, police located the vehicle on Rosie Lane, Inverell. It was seized for forensic examination.
A short time later, a 12-year-old boy was arrested on Cunningham Place, Inverell, and was taken to Inverell Police Station.
He was charged with aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company steal and take and drive conveyance without consent of owner.
He was granted strict conditional bail to appear before a children’s court on Thursday 16 July 2026.
Investigations are ongoing.
