Break and enter, deprivation of liberty charges in , QLD

Detectives have charged a man following investigations into a break and enter and deprivation of liberty incident which resulted in a PSPA declaration yesterday in Everton Hills.

Just after 3am on May 31, police were called to an address on South Pine Road following reports of two people loitering in the area.

The dog squad attended who tracked the pair to a nearby address in South Pine Road, where they had allegedly barricaded themselves inside a garage.

An emergency declaration was made at 6am as the man was believed to be armed with a knife and was allegedly holding his associate against her will.

Specialist police and negotiators arrived and spoke with the man. At 10am, the woman was released from the garage and at 10.15am, the man surrendered to police without incident.

Police have charged a 42-year-old Lawnton man with 11 offences including, deprivation of liberty, break and enter, burglary, fail to take reasonable care and precautions in respect of syringe, possessing tainted property and three counts each of receiving tainted property and fraud.

He is expected to appear in Pine Rivers Magistrates Court today, June 1.
