The Brimbank Solar Sports Program is kicking goals for the planet and local sports clubs.
Solar PV units will be installed at Council’s sport facilities to reduce their greenhouse emissions as part of this capital works project. This will help Council achieve zero carbon emissions for Brimbank municipality by 2040, part of its Climate Emergency Plan.
So far, the solar panels have been installed at Dempster Park football cricket ground, Kevin Flint Memorial, Selwyn Reserve cricket and soccer ground, and at Churchill Reserve. Council will continue to roll out this program to eligible sport facilities this financial year.
Brimbank Council declared a climate emergency in 2019 and has committed an ambitious target of zero net emissions for the whole municipality by 2040.
