Bring your creativity to great outdoors with Love My Place grants

City of Port Phillip
Community members with creative ideas to help activate Port Phillip’s open spaces can now apply for Love My Place 2021/22 grants.

Successful applicants will each receive up to $15,000 from Port Phillip Council to help bring their unique ideas for art, events and music to life at public spaces across the City.

The grants can fund activities such as marketing, road closures, parking controls, permit approvals and permission to use spaces.

Previous successful Love My Place grant applications include the creation of a sustainable garden at Park Gateway in South Melbourne, which allowed locals to learn about sustainable garden practices in an urban environment.

Another successful application saw the Curbside Carnies roll a custom-built roving stage around the City, delighting audiences with a variety of circus acts.

Some grants have a long-lasting impact such as the mural on Wynyard, created by Brigitte and Melissa from Melbourne’s Murals. For this grant, Cloudwine Cellars was the successful grantee and provided the ‘canvas’ space of their wall.

The mural depicts a tree holding many birds local to Port Phillip, so each time someone walks by they may notice a different bird local to the area.

Mayor Louise Crawford said the Love My Place grants are great opportunity to let local creativity shine.

“I can’t wait to see all the different applications and ideas to come from this round of Love My Place grants,” Cr Crawford said.

“We are lucky to have a vibrant arts community and I know they won’t disappoint when it comes to bringing their creativity to this project which will help activate our City post-lockdown.”

Applications close at 11.59 pm on Sunday 11 October.
