Bringing Festive Glow to Narrandera Shire

Narrandera Shire Council

Narrandera Shire Council is preparing their annual Christmas lights and encourage the community to bring a festive glow to the Shire.

“More than ever it’s important we switch on the festive season,” said Councilor Neville Kschenka, Mayor of Narrandera Shire Council.

“We’re letting the community know that holidays are on their way and I encourage everyone to consider how to bring a colourful glow to the Shire.”

Dazzle us with your display

Narrandera Shire’s Christmas lighting display competition is back, and entrants can select from the following categories:

  • Best Barellan House
  • Best Shire Business
  • Best Grong Grong House
  • Best Narrandera House
  • Best Narrandera Street
  • Best Rural Mailbox

“Even if you only have a few decorations, we encourage you to register so that the map can be created to help people identify the streets to visit.”

Register online by Sunday 12 December 2021: www.narrandera.nsw.gov.au/christmas-competition

One registration per household, please and be sure to upload a photo of your decorations (even if was taken in a previous year) to help us identify each site.

Your photographs will ensure your display is easy to recognise on the map, which will be available on Council’s website and be provided to the Lions Club for their train rides.

“From 15 December you’ll be able to plan a tour of Christmas lights across the Shire to undertake your research before voting for the best display,” said Cr Kschenka.

Enjoy the lights in Narrandera

The Narrandera Christmas Mega Tree will begin illuminating in Victoria Square from Wednesday 1 December until diming for the last time in 2021 on Christmas night.

Each evening will have a repeating 30-minute show synchronised to accompany everyone’s favourite Christmas carols.

This wonderful festive feature complements the colourful lights that shine in the main street throughout the year.

From December 1st the Mega Tree sequences will commence from 8pm each night with an extended display on Friday and Saturday nights:

  • Sun to Thurs – two hours
  • Fri and Sat – three hours
  • 23-24 and 25 Dec – two hours

Remember to tune in to 93.7FM to ensure the music combines with the lighting display and enjoy the full experience.

Join us to celebrate in Barellan

We will be turning on the Barellan Christmas Tree on 8 December.

A sausage sizzle barbeque for children will be available from 7.30pm, ahead of the Tree being illuminated at around 8pm.

NSW Health Orders require those attending to be double-vaccinated.
