Broome-based company Morrgul has been awarded a five-year $1.47 million contract to support regional Aboriginal businesses, build capacity, and successfully compete for contracts across regional Western Australia.
The not-for-profit organisation has secured the tender to continue to deliver the McGowan Government’s Aboriginal Procurement Advisory Service – which it has been successfully providing since 2017.
The advisory service supports Aboriginal business owners through the tendering process, to win tenders to supply goods and services to local and State Governments, and to demonstrate their business capability and capacity to potential buyers.
Morrgul has supported more than 50 businesses in securing State Government contracts to deliver a wide range of goods, services, and works – resulting in the employment of more than 350 Aboriginal people across regional WA since 2017.
Over the next five years the advisory service is projected to secure more than $50 million in Aboriginal procurement contracts, generating more than 500 new jobs across regional WA.
The Aboriginal Procurement Advisory Service is administered by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, and is available at no cost to all regionally based Aboriginal businesses across WA.

“Over the past 12 months, the Aboriginal Procurement Advisory Service has assisted Aboriginal businesses to secure $8.4 million of work – including $1 million in the southern regions, through projects such as the Bunbury Outer Ring Road project.”
