The Territory Labor Government is investing a record $1.491 billion to improve and maintain our road network through a pipeline of works.
Budget 2022 will see the Territory Labor Government allocate $113.1 million of new funding for sealing, strengthening and widening of Roads of Strategic Importance projects under the National Partnership Agreement on Land Transport Infrastructure projects.
The funding leverages a massive program of works jointly funded with the Australian Government totalling $880.6 million under the Roads of Strategic Importance program.
The key projects include:
$86 million for the Tanami Road upgrade – Alice Springs to Halls Creek Corridor contributing to a full program of $262.5 million for this road;$104 million for the Northern Territory gas industry roads upgrades contributing to a full program of $217 million for these roads;$59 million for the Adelaide River to Wadeye Corridor – Port Keats Road upgrade contributing to a full program of $75 million;$45 million for the Tennant Creek to Townsville Corridor contributing to a full program of $87.3 million;$25 million for the Newman to Katherine Corridor contributing to a full program of $47.9 million; and$81 million for the Alice Springs to Darwin Corridor contributing to a full program of $190.9 million.
This funding will expand on upgrades and sealing works that are already underway on the Territory road network.
