Bugs’ Day In to help celebrate Altona Council+ launch

Andrew Webster Bugs Day In

This school holidays get up close and personal with some fascinating creepy crawlies as Altona Library celebrates becoming a Council+ site.

On Tuesday 18 April between 10am and 2pm, Altona Library will host a bug day where visitors can meet and learn about a range of spiders and insects that live above and below the ground.

There will be plenty of activities for all ages, including face painting, story time, a scavenger hunt with prizes to be won, and free food and coffee.

Altona Library will join Laverton Community Hub, Seabrook Community Centre, Altona North Community Library, Hobsons Bay Civic Centre and the Williamstown and Altona Meadows libraries in becoming a Council+ site.

Residents will be able to do all their Council-related business – from applying for permits to paying rates, upsizing their bins and more – while still enjoying the traditional services and expertise they’ve come to expect from their local library.

“It’s fantastic to see the much-loved Altona Library becoming the latest Council+ site, giving residents another local place to do their council business,” Mayor of Hobsons Bay, Cr Tony Briffa, said.

“And what a day for it to start! Kids love exploring the world of bugs so this will be a fascinating day to learn more about them and see them up close.”
