Building local resilience and preparedness in times of crisis

Two years ago, the Red Hill Ward community faced unprecedented challenges in the wake of severe storms, leaving some residents without power, water and mobile connection for up to two weeks.

This week we faced another significant storm and were able to work alongside our community to provide immediate relief support to those that had been impacted by the power outage.

This involved liaising with the Red Hill CFA to identify an appropriate location to deploy our new Emergency Relief Trailer which we set up at the Red Hill Bushland Reserve car park. The trailer was equipped with power for charging devices, water, access to WiFi, tea and coffee.

In addition to deploying the Emergency Relief Trailer, the Shire’s new Community Resilience and Emergency Management Team were on the ground assisting and supporting residents in need, including helping residents access other relief services.
