Burglary at a Nichols Point gem store

Mildura High Volume Crime Unit officers are investigating following a burglary at a local gem shop in Nichols Point overnight (October 13).

The incident happened on Cureton Avenue when a burglar smashed a rear door to gain entry into the store just after 1.15am.

After entering the shop, the burglar broke open some locked cabinets and removed a substantial amount of various sized gem stones.

As the burglar was leaving the premises the owner, who was responding to an alarm which had been activated, arrived at the scene.

The burglar threatened the victim before leaving the address in a small light-coloured sedan.
