Bus Driver Assault Charges – Victoria Park

Cannington Detectives have charged two people as part of an ongoing investigation into an incident at the Victoria Park Transfer Station last night, Thursday 12 January 2023, in which a bus driver was assaulted.
About 7:15pm a bus was being driven from Elizabeth Quay to Curtin University, when it stopped at the Victoria Park Transfer Station to pick up a number of passengers.
A group of people entered the bus, however due to their behaviour and incidents that were occurring the group exited the bus. It will be alleged during the disturbance a young male spat on the bus driver and stole her mobile phone.
It will be further alleged during the incident the bus driver was physically assaulted by the same young male, who it will be alleged kicked her, and by a woman who punched her face.
Police attended and commenced an investigation, resulting in several people being arrested a short time later.
A 13-year-old boy has been charged with ‘Stealing’ and two counts of ‘Assault Public Officer’. He was refused bail and is due to appear in Perth Children’s Court today, Friday 13 January 2023.
A 32-year-old woman has been charged with ‘Assault Public Officer’. She is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court on Wednesday 25 January 2023.
