Bus driver assaulted in Kerang

Kerang police are appealing for public assistance after a bus driver was assaulted on a bus in Kerang this morning.

The bus was travelling from Wodonga to Adelaide when it made a stop to pick up passengers at the Kerang bus depot just before 10am.

Police have been told a man boarded the bus and was asked by the driver to wear a mask before the bus drove away.

It is believed the male passenger became abusive and punched a window before approaching the driver and seriously assaulting him.

The driver pulled over on Boundary Street and the passenger left the scene.

The 55-year-old driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Investigators are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and are keen to speak to any witnesses.

No arrests have been made and the investigation remains ongoing.
