Cabramatta woman in her 70s clocks off work for good with $5.2 million Powerball win

After decades of hard work, a Cabramatta woman is set to swap full-time work for full-time freedom thanks to a $5.2 million Powerball prize.

The south-western Sydney resident held one of the four division one winning entries nationally in Powerball draw 1581 on Thursday 3 September 2026. Each division one winning entry pocketed $5,200,007.13.

Although her winning ticket was registered to The Lott Members Club, she took a little longer to come forward after initially ignoring calls from us.

“Thank you! I’m excited and nervous,” she laughed.

“I can retire! I’m in my 70s, still working full-time so you have no idea how much this means.

“I’m also renting so I’ll be able to buy my own place too.

“I feel so lucky! It was just a small 6-game QuickPick.

“I don’t really answer calls from unknown numbers so that’s why I wasn’t answering. Then I saw your texts and emails, and I Googled the numbers and I was like ‘Oh my gosh!’.

“Thank you so much!”

Her winning 6-game QuickPick entry was purchased at Saigon Bookshop & Lottery, Cabramatta Mall, Shop 6, 47 Park Road, Cabramatta.
