Officers from the Major Crash Investigation Section are seeking information regarding a fatal crash in Calista last night, Wednesday 21 February 2024.
About 9:15pm, police on patrol in the Calista area attempted to stop a motorcycle being ridden on Wellard Road. The rider failed to stop for police and turned off onto Westbrook Street, before turning back onto Wellard Road.
Officers lost sight of the motorcycle, however they located it crashed a short time later on Wellard Road.
Officers provided emergency first aid to the male rider until St John WA arrived at the scene.
Tragically, the rider, who is believed to a man aged in his 20s, died at the scene.
Officers from the Major Crash Investigation Section are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, with oversight from the Internal Affairs Unit due to the earlier attempt to stop the motorcycle.
