Call for information – Aggravated assault – Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police are calling for information in relation to an aggravated assault over the weekend in Alice Springs.

Around 3am on Saturday 16 March 2024 police received reports of up to 50 people fighting along Gregory Terrace and Hartley street, Alice Springs. A 16-year-old female, who was not involved in the disturbance, was allegedly assaulted by 10 females, suffering serious chest injuries.

The victim self-presented at Alice Springs Hospital before leaving to the community of Yuendumu. Local police located the victim yesterday and she has since been conveyed back to Alice Springs Hospital to receive treatment for her injuries.

The Alice Springs Criminal Investigation Branch are calling for any witnesses to contact police on 131 444, and quote number NTP2400027052.

Senior Sergeant Michael Curtiss said “The violence we saw over the weekend was completely unacceptable and CCTV shows 30 witnesses who have yet to come forward and give a statement to police.

“We are urging those with information to do the right thing and make contact.”
