Call goes out to honour community champs

After another tough year for our community, now is the time to honour those who have worked tirelessly on Albury’s behalf during a challenging period.

AlburyCity is calling for nominations for the Albury Awards 2022, so that those quiet achievers can be recognised for doing so much behind the scenes on behalf of the city.

AlburyCity Mayor Kevin Mack has urged people to put forward the names of those community champions for the Citizen, Young Citizen, Volunteer and Community Group of the Year awards.

The successful nominees will be presented with their awards on Australia Day, 2022.

“If ever there was a time to say thank you to our community heroes, it’s now,” Cr Mack said.

“It goes without saying that Covid-19 has presented us with a tough challenge but throughout it all, people have been quietly working to make our city an even better place, so please do nominate those people who are worthy of thanks and recognition.”

Nominations can be made on the AlburyCity website.

Last year’s Albury Awards recipients were:

  • Dr Eric Moyle, Citizen of the Year
  • Ellie Walsh, Young Citizen of the Year
  • Lavington Fire Brigade, Community Group of the Year, and
  • Bruce and Kathy Barnes, Volunteers of the Year.

Nominations close on 30 November.
