Lotto NZ is calling on West Aucklanders to dig out and check their tickets – a huge $20 million Powerball prize won more than three weeks ago remains unclaimed.
The ticket was sold at Blockhouse Bay Postshop & Stationers for Saturday 25 July’s $40 million draw. Two winners split the epic jackpot taking home just over $20 million each.
Will Hine, Head of Corporate Communications at Lotto NZ, says a prize of this size has the power to completely change someone’s future.
“This win is absolutely life-changing. We’d love to get the money into the hands of its rightful owner as soon as possible so they can start planning their future.”
Hine says prizes this size don’t often go unclaimed for very long, with Powerball winners generally claiming within days of winning.
“We usually hear from people pretty quickly after a big prize has been won, but in this case, it seems we need to give the winner a little nudge to check their ticket,” says Hine.
Anyone who bought a ticket from Blockhouse Bay Postshop & Stationers in Auckland for the draw on Saturday 25 July should write their name on the back of the ticket and check it as soon as possible.
“We’re looking forward to hearing from the winner. If you think you have the winning ticket, I recommend stopping into one of our stores or giving our customer support team a call so we can help guide you through the next steps,” says Hine.
