Council is calling on young people in Colac Otway to provide feedback on youth engagement activities and youth matters in the shire.

The survey is open to young people aged 12 to 25 who live, work and/or study in Colac Otway Shire.

Acting Manager Connected Communities Sharyn Ryan said the survey will help Council plan its Youth Program.

“We want to hear from young people across the shire on what they’re interested in to assist us in planning future opportunities, activities, workshops and events as we develop our Youth Program.

“Council wants to ensure our Youth Program supports young people to engage in Council activities and community life, which is important for social change and improved health and wellbeing outcomes,” Ms Ryan said.

The survey invites young people to have their say on various aspects of life in Colac Otway including education, recreation, mental health, safety and sustainability.

“The survey will be an important tool to provide insight into the thoughts and ideas of young people in our community and ultimately, we hope that our Youth Program encourages young people in our shire to be actively engaged in local decision making and also developing connections in our community.

“Please share the survey and encourage friends and family to provide their input, as by capturing diverse perspectives, we aim to tailor our policies and services to address the needs of our community,” Ms Ryan said.

The Youth Survey is now available on Council’s website and closes at 5pm on Friday 1 December 2023.
