Caloundra’s Bulcock Street streetscape complete two weeks early

One of the Sunshine Coast’s most significant streetscape upgrades – Stage 4 of the new-look Bulcock Street streetscape – has been finished two weeks ahead of schedule and hosted its first special event last weekend.

The project has transformed Caloundra’s main street from the Minchinton Street roundabout to Knox Avenue.

Major construction is complete, the reshaped road and all footpaths are open, new street furniture is in place and more than 70 additional trees and accompanying plants and shrubs have been planted.

Division 2 Councillor Tim Dwyer thanked local businesses and the wider community for their patience during construction.

“The new streetscape looks fantastic,” Cr Dwyer said.

“This upgrade, combined with the previous streetscape stages, has made the Caloundra CBD a more attractive, safer and user-friendly space for residents and visitors to enjoy.

“It’s an important investment in continuing to maintain and build Caloundra’s economy.

“We welcomed the first event to be held in the new-look street with the Chilli Festival taking place last Saturday and I encourage our community to visit the street for some Christmas shopping and take a look around.”

Owner of Bulcock Street business The Source Bulk Foods, Norm Foord said that construction work had progressed quickly with all businesses kept regularly informed about the works.

“Of course any construction is challenging for business but we’ve really appreciated how council and the construction team have kept us informed,” Mr Foord said.

“We’re thrilled the street has been reopened early and just in time for the peak shopping and holiday season.”
