Camden’s Australia Day Celebrations

Australia Day 2022 Facebook final

Camden Council’s Australia Day event will be held online, so residents have a chance to celebrate everything that’s great about our nation from the comfort of their own homes.

The online Australia Day program includes:

  • Flags Out #camdenausday campaign encouraging residents to hang an Australian flag in their window, on their letterbox or even their car, snap a photo and share it on their social media using the hashtag;
  • Online whip cracking demonstration on Council’s Facebook page;
  • Meat tray competition;
  • Follow Camden’s Australia Day Spotify playlist and tell us any songs you think should be added to the list;
  • Virtual Citizenship Ceremony – welcoming 26 residents as Australia citizens;
  • Camden Australia Day award winners announced via social media by Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli; and
  • Special online Australia Day address by Camden’s Ambassador and Better Homes and Garden’s superstar, Graham Ross VMM on Council’s Facebook page.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli said whether residents were spending the day out with family and friends or having a backyard barbecue, the online program had something for all to enjoy.

“While people may choose to celebrate Australia Day a little differently this year, we still wanted to provide our community with events and activities online to celebrate the day,” she said.

“You can enjoy our Camden Australia Day playlist on Spotify and listen to our Australia Day Ambassador Address by acclaimed horticulturist Graham Ross.

“We’ll have a whip cracking demonstration for you to enjoy online and you can even enter our Facebook competition with winners to have a meat tray delivered to you on the day – it doesn’t get much more Australian than that.

“We’re also encouraging residents to pop their Australian flag out on the day, snap a photo and share with the community using #camdenausday.

“For me, the most special part of the day is the Citizenship Ceremony, and I am excited to be welcoming 26 new citizens from 16 countries on Australia Day.”
