Camden’s streets will become an outdoor gallery this spring, with the latest Camden
Kerbside Exhibition inviting residents and visitors to discover the places, stories and spaces
that make the community unique.
Launching on 5 September 2026, the Spring exhibition, Hidden Gems, will showcase
artworks inspired by Camden’s lesser-known locations and the stories behind them.
From heritage buildings and natural landscapes to local landmarks, treasured meeting
places, childhood memories and special places known only to a few, Hidden Gems
encourages artists to uncover the character and charm of the places that help shape
Camden’s identity.
Selected artworks will be reproduced and displayed across Camden in unexpected public
spaces, including balustrades, bins and bus shelters, transforming everyday infrastructure
into colourful outdoor exhibition spaces.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, said the exhibition was a wonderful opportunity to
celebrate Camden’s creative community while encouraging people to look at their local area
through a different lens.
“Camden is home to so many special places and stories, some of which are well known and
others that are treasured quietly by individuals, families and local communities.
“Hidden Gems gives our talented local artists the opportunity to bring these stories to life
and share them with the wider community through art.
“It also encourages all of us to slow down and take notice of the places around us, from
heritage buildings, landscapes, landmarks and meeting places that may hold a special
meaning or memory.
“By bringing art into our everyday streetscapes, Camden Kerbside Exhibition makes
creativity accessible to everyone and adds colour, character and interest to our public
spaces,” she said.
Camden Kerbside Exhibition also provides the public with the opportunity to purchase
selected artworks directly from local artists, commission free, providing an additional way
for the community to support Camden’s creative sector.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to explore the exhibition, discover the artworks on
display and learn more about the artists and the stories that inspired their work.
The community is also invited to share their own Camden hidden gems on social media
using #CamdenHiddenGems, helping build a community collection of local places,
memories and stories throughout the exhibition.
The Hidden Gems exhibition will be on display from 5 September 2026 across Camden.
