Campaign showcases mining’s world-leading approach to sustainability

The MCA this week launched the next phase of its ongoing campaign to promote the responsible management of Australia’s precious environment by the minerals industry.

Australia’s minerals sector is proud of its world-leading approach to sustainability and understands that good environmental stewardship is fundamental to responsible business practice.

This includes the rehabilitation of mining land to make it available for other uses after mining ends.

While mined land represents a small percentage of Australia’s land mass, land managed by the minerals industry can also make a valuable contribution to biodiversity conservation or support landscape connectivity.

Australian mining conservation partnerships also help local wildlife flourish by preserving and protecting Australia’s unique native species.

Research by the MCA has shown that Australians want to hear more about the industry’s approach to responsible environmental management.

The More to Mining campaign is part of the broader There’s more to Australian mining campaign and outlines the industry’s world-leading approach to land rehabilitation and protection of native wildlife to younger Australians through advertising on a range of social media channels.

A campaign microsite has also been established at www.moretomining.com.au featuring case studies, videos and images from across the MCA’s broad base of member company locations and commodities.

The wildlife and land use and rehab videos are also available on YouTube featuring case studies showing the breadth and depth of the industry’s commitment to the environment.
