Cancer support services in the Mid West have received a welcome boost, following a generous grant of almost $6000 from the Mid West Ports Authority (MWPA).

Cancer Council WA’s Mid West Cancer Support Coordinator, April Kalajzich, said the support from MWPA would have a meaningful and lasting impact on local families affected by cancer.

“Every year, around 36,000 people in WA hear the words ‘you have cancer’, so we are incredibly grateful to MWPA for this generous support,” Ms Kalajzich said.

This funding will enable us to expand our local wig and turban resources, which are vital in helping people manage some of the more visible impacts of their cancer treatment.

“It will also support our Community Engagement Open Day in October, an important event to raise awareness of the support services we provide, and to promote cancer prevention across the region.

“Our shared commitment to regional communities with MWPA ensures that no West Australian faces cancer alone, no matter where they live. We are incredibly thankful for their support.”
