Car and home damaged by fire in Keysborough

Greater Dandenong Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating after a car and home were damaged by fire in Keysborough overnight.

The alarm was raised when a neighbour heard a loud bang and noticed a car parked in the driveway of a home in Hibiscus Way engulfed in flames about 12.45am.

The fire quickly spread to the carport and the adjoining home.

Police have been told the alert neighbour then ran to the burning home to notify the 29-year-old male resident who was asleep.

He was able to leave the home and wasn’t injured.

At this stage the circumstances surrounding the fire remain unclear and a crime scene has been established.

It is expected detectives will re-visit the scene along with an arson chemist this morning.
