Cardinia Shire Council launches Phase 1 Support Package and online help hub

Cardinia Shire Council has announced the first phase of its Community and Business Support Package: COVID-19.

The first phase of the package includes a range of support initiatives to help community and business to cope with the unprecedented effects of COVID-19.

Phase 1 support measures include fast tracking of approvals and compliance matters, temporary cessation of some fees and charges, a shop local campaign, business concierge services, and support for local contractors and rent relief options for those in Council properties.

Cardinia Shire Council has also today launched its Coronavirus Online Help Hub, an online portal featuring links, fact sheets and videos on topics including support available for individuals and households, support available for businesses, what to do if you suspect you have the virus, how to protect yourself and others, family violence support and looking after your mental health.

The online help hub, accessed through Council’s website, is accompanied by a ‘call back’ option if community members would like Council to contact them to assist in finding or understanding relevant support or information.

Cardinia Shire Mayor Councillor Jeff Springfield said “we know people are doing it tough and we are keen to help our community get through this together and to provide some relief to our businesses and local economy.

“I encourage anyone experiencing financial hardship to contact Council regarding your situation.

“As well as what we’re delivering in phase 1, we are also considering more support for our community and local households through our 2020–21 budget process.
