A carer will face court charged with property offences near Tweed Heads following an extensive investigation by police.
In October 2025, police attached to Tweed/Byron Police District commenced an investigation after several unauthorised purchases were allegedly made with an elderly man’s bank card.
Following inquiries, police established that more than 200 unauthorised transactions were identified in August 2025 and October 2025, amounting to over $140,000.
Police later received information that gold jewellery had been stolen from an elderly woman’s home in Tweed Heads South.
Following extensive inquiries, police executed a search warrant at a home on Falcon Way in Tweed Heads South on Wednesday 10 June 2026.
The search warrant was executed at the home of a woman who had provided domestic care services to the elderly man and woman.
During the search, police allegedly located and seized several items of interest including a large quantity of jewellery, 31 unopened bottles of perfume, nine handbags, and electronics.
Police also located a gold chain and pendant matching the description of items reported stolen from the elderly woman.
About 8.30am yesterday (Thursday 13 August 2026), police executed a second search warrant at the home in Tweed Heads South.
During the search, police allegedly located and seized items believe to have been unlawfully obtained, including electronics, appliances, and furniture.
About 3pm yesterday, a 57-year-old woman was arrested at Tweed Heads Police Station.
She was charged with four offences,
- Attempt receive property-theft=serious indictable more than $5,000 (two counts)
- Dishonestly obtain property by deception, and
- Deal with property proceeds of crime (more than $100,000).
She was granted strict conditional bail to appear before Tweed Heads Local Court on Monday 28 September 2026.
Police are continuing to examine several pieces of jewellery seized during the search warrants.
