Carers NSW to shine light on Secret Life of Carers

Carers NSW

Carers, service providers and industry leaders are set to come together tomorrow for the Carers NSW Conference 2021: The Secret Life of Carers.

The event will be held completely online for the first time, with the annual conference also resuming this year following its postponement in 2020.

The Carers NSW Conference: The Secret Life of Carers will explore new understandings about the carer journey, and showcase new and innovative initiatives in policy, programs and practice in meeting the needs of carers in NSW.

Delegates will be provided an excellent opportunity to connect virtually and share the latest research, information, and best practice in carer support in evolving and changing times.

The program includes a range of exciting presentations, including keynotes from Professor Saul Becker, Richard Colbran, Lucinda Brogden AM and Dr Norman Swan.

The carer panel, which will be facilitated by Justin Noel, is set to be a highlight of the day and will provide the audience an insight into the lived experience of carers.

Carers NSW Chief Executive Officer, Elena Katrakis, said the conference was an opportunity to take a deep dive into the broad diversity of carer journeys.

‘The Carers NSW Conference 2021 will focus in on exploring what life is like for the 2.65 million carers across Australia,’ Katrakis said.

‘We will be drawing on the experiences of carers, research, best practices in carer support and the voices of many to develop a detailed insight into the Secret Life of Carers.

‘We are excited to be able to host our annual conference once again this year, embracing the digital technology we have all become so accustomed to.

‘We look forward to welcoming the many carers, service providers and key representatives online for what should be an enjoyable and insightful experience.’
