Carnarvon National Park bushfire

Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) will be closing the Carnarvon Gorge section of Carnarvon National Park at 3pm tomorrow as a safety precaution due to a bushfire.

The bushfire started outside of the National Park boundary around two weeks ago.

The full closure includes all walking tracks, visitor areas and car parks.

The Carnarvon Great Walk, including the Battleship Spur walking track and associated remote camping will remain closed until October 31, 2021.

The Mt Moffatt section is also closed to visitors until further notice.

These closures not only protect the public but assist crews in undertaking important containment and suppression operations.

The fire is currently not a threat to life or property.

Members of the public are encouraged to check Park Alerts for updated advice and warnings.
