Older residents are invited to connect, create and celebrate as the City of Casey’s much-loved Ageing Positively Festival returns this October with more than 90 free and low-cost events designed to support wellbeing, lifelong learning and community connection.
Proudly presented in conjunction with the Victorian Seniors Festival, the month-long program features activities across Casey including workshops, guided tours, cultural experiences, physical activity sessions, technology programs and social events, ensuring there is something for everyone.
Festival highlights include the Ageing Well Big Day Out at the Old Cheese Factory on Wednesday 7 October. As the festival’s flagship event, the free community celebration will feature interactive activities, live demonstrations, performances and opportunities to connect with local groups and services.
U3A Cranbourne will open its doors to the community on Friday 2 October, giving visitors the opportunity to meet tutors and members, explore the wide range of classes on offer and discover how they can get involved.
Mayor Cr Michelle Crowther said the festival was a wonderful opportunity to recognise the valuable contributions older people make to the Casey community while encouraging people to stay connected and engaged.
“Our older residents play an important role in making Casey the vibrant and welcoming community it is today. The Ageing Positively Festival celebrates their contributions and provides opportunities for people to connect with others, learn new skills, explore new interests and enjoy everything our community has to offer.”
Throughout October, residents can also enjoy activities such as walking groups, yoga and tai chi sessions, pickleball and walking netball, multicultural wellness activities, arts and cultural experiences, and community celebrations hosted by local organisations.
