CCTV appeal after reported sexual touching in Haymarket

Police have released images of a man and are appealing for information as investigations continue into the reported sexual touching of a woman in the Sydney CBD at the weekend.

Just before 5pm on Sunday 2 January 2022, a 20-year-old woman entered a lift inside her apartment building on Hay Street, Haymarket, followed by a man, not known to her.

Police have been told the man sexually touched the woman as she attempted to leave the lift on an upper floor of the building.

Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command were notified and commenced an investigation.

As inquiries continue, police have released CCTV and images of a man they believe may be able to assist their investigation.

The man depicted is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged in his 70s, with grey hair.

He is shown wearing a black ‘Nike’ baseball cap, black sunglasses, blue jeans, short-sleeved white collared shirt with a black glasses case or similar in the chest pocket and a face mask.
