CCTV images released after elderly man injured in carjacking in Casula

Police have released CCTV images as they appeal for information into an alleged carjacking in Sydney’s west.

Investigators have been told about 12pm on Tuesday 13 December 2022, a man allegedly asked an elderly couple for a lift after helping them with their groceries at a shopping centre in Casula.

Whilst in the car, the 81-year-old woman driving the car noticed the man allegedly steal her phone from her handbag, before pulling over on Kurrajong Road, Casula, and asking him to leave.

The man allegedly exited the car, before assaulting the woman and getting back in the driver’s seat, fleeing the scene with the 90-year-old man still in the car.

A short time later, the man allegedly assaulted the 90-year-old, before pushing him out of the vehicle on Grimson Road, Liverpool, and fleeing the scene in the car – a gold Nissan Micra.

Emergency services attended, where NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the 90-year-old for facial injuries. He was taken to Liverpool hospital in a stable condition.

As inquiries continue into the incident, officers attached to Liverpool City Police Area Command have released CCTV images of a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, approximately 50 – 55 years old, of average build with short dark hair and light stubble.

He was wearing a black, long sleeve jacket, grey tracksuit pants, black slides and a black cap.
